Joan M. Bowser, 89, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Sunday August 23, 2020, with her family at her side, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born April 16, 1931 to Russell and Virginia (Bowser) Smith in Punxsutawney.

Joan was a lifelong member of the Albion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, going for walks, and loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Eugene Robert “Bob” Bowser and wife Donna, Punxsutawney, Susan K. Campbell and husband Thomas, Indiana, and Russell F. “Rusty” Bowser, Punxsutawney, three grandchildren, Nicholas E. Bowser, Jason L. Frederick, Michael R. Frederick and wife Amanda

and a sister Sharon J. Fryer and husband William, Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene R. Bowser in 2011, a daughter Deborah Lynn Bowser, a brother Harry M. Smith and a sister Nancy L. Crawford.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc. 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Burial will take place at Ridgemont Cemetery.
