Douglas M. Shaffer, 58, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Doug was born June 14, 1962 to Thomas and Margaret (Roy) Shaffer. He was the loving husband of Marianne (Bowser) Shaffer, who preceded him in death.

Doug was a lifelong resident of Punxsutawney, having graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School, and was also a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church. Doug spent his career in banking, the majority of which he spent as a bank manager with CNB Bank. He was a dedicated and doting father, and went above and beyond for his family, community, and anyone in need. He loved spending time with family, especially playing board games and having movie nights together with lots of snacks.

Doug is survived by two daughters: Karly Geist (Husband Tyler Geist) of Punxsutawney, and Alexa Bridge (Husband Joshua Bridge) of Walston; three brothers: Thomas Shaffer (wife Cheryl) and Greg Shaffer of Punxsutawney, and Bryan Shaffer of Clearfield; two sisters: Laura German and Debra Byerly, both of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one brother, Dennis Randall Shaffer.

Services are private and have been entrusted to the McCabe Funeral Home Inc. of Punxsutawney. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
