Obituary

Betty Jean Plotner, 100, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Knoxdale, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born March 6, 1923 to the late Thomas and Blanche (Kessler) Hopkins in Center Hill, Jefferson County.

Jean held various jobs throughout her life. She worked at Sylvania and Jefferson Manor, drove school bus and most importantly was a mother and homemaker. Jean made sure everyone that visited her did not leave hungry. She also enjoyed her pet cats, fishing, tending to her vegetable garden, feeding the wildlife, traveling, attending yard sales, and finding a bargain wherever she could.

She is survived by two sons, Cecil F. Plotner, Punxsutawney, and George W. Plotner (Brenda), Pensacola, FL, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, a special niece Debbie, and other numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil F. Plotner in 1996, a son Robert Plotner, five sisters and a brother, and a great great grandson.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM with Pastors George and Brenda Plotner officiating.

Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Knoxdale.
