Wilmer L. McQuown

Wilmer L. McQuown, born on July 17, 1934, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 25, 2024 at the Dubois Nursing Home. 

After graduating high school, he served with the National Guard and then spent his career as a Foreman in Line Clearance for Penn Lines. 

Outside of work, Wilmer enjoyed tending to his animals and running his tractors on his hobby farm. However, what he cherished most was spending quality time with his family.

Wilmer is survived by his sons, James (Peggy) McQuown and Stephen G. (Annette) McQuown; his daughters, Deborah A. (Cliff) Dobson, Susan I. (Terry) Kennedy, and Mary E. (Leonard) Hoover; a son-in-law, Dave Small; and twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Louise Winchell of New Mexico, Dale (Micki) McQuown of Sharon, PA, and Betty (Barry) Blood of Florida.

In addition to his parents, Glenn and Anna (States) McQuown and his wife Alice (Smith) McQuown, Wilmer was preceded in death bya daughter, Christine Louise Small, a granddaughter, Danielle Small, and two brothers, Dwight McQuown and Howard McQuown.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., located at 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA. Visitation is scheduled for November 29, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 5:00 PM with Pastor Ed Bach officiating.
