Vance C. McCormick

Vance C. “Skeet” McCormick, 59, of Smicksburg, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at the DuBois Nursing Home, with his family by his side.

He was born February 27, 1967 to William L. and Geraldine (Hill) McCormick, in Punxsutawney.

Skeet was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed anything outdoors, hunting and fishing, and taking care of his yard. He was proud of his garden and enjoyed canning what the garden produced. Skeet also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Rem. Most of all Skeet loved his family, especially his granddaughter, Dior.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Margie L. (Kerr) McCormick, Smicksburg, daughter Cheyenne McCormick and fiancé Cameron Edwards, VA, granddaughter Dior Edwards, two sisters, Billie Jo Sloniger and husband Edward, Punxsutawney Kim Good and husband Brian, Smicksburg, brother Daniel L. McCormick, and wife Mona, Smicksburg, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and mother and father-in-law George and Betty Lou Kerr.

At Vance’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
