Thomas M. Pearce, Jr., 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 with his family by his side at his home, the same home in which he had been born and raised.
Thomas was born on March 11, 1935 in Mahaffey to Milton and Allean (Keener) Pearce. After his schooling, Thomas worked as a coal miner for Greenwich Collaries until his retirement at the age of 56. Thomas had married the love of his life, Velma R. Pearce on April 23, 1955. He enjoyed hunting and farming his hundred-acre farm. Most of all, Thomas loved spending time with his family.
Thomas is survived by four children, Vicky Lindsey (Bill), Texas, David Pearce (Wendy), Glen Campbell, Cindy Deyarmin, Punxsutawney, and Penny Yeager (late Barney), Cherry Tree, as well as a grandson he and his wife raised, Ed Gaston, Punxsutawney; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Norman “Dick” Pearce, Burnside; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by two daughters, Susan Brink and Sharon Smith; a grandson, Carl Thomas “CT” Ruth; five brothers, Joe, Ray, Chuck, Ralph, and Leonard Pearce; and two sisters, Della Trimble and Martha “June” Calabrese.
Friends and family will be received at McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767 on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tom Brink officiating.
