Ruth M. Burkett

Ruth M. Burkett, 97, of Coolspring, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born December 21, 1927 to Walter and Lydia (Mottern) Reitz in Knoxdale.

Ruth attended a nondominational church. She enjoyed reading and making items with needlepoint and giving them to friends and family. In her earlier years she enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking.

She is survived by her children; Gary B. Burkett and wife Norma, Knoxville, TN, Donna S. Crawford and Curtis E. Burkett and wife Sherry, all of Coolspring, grandchildren; Julie Jones and husband Dave, Jared Burkett and wife Jerrilynn, Jacob Burkett, Heather Burkett and Zak, Amy Trithart and husband Scott, Joel Crawford and wife Bekah, Jeremy Crawford and wife Kimberly, Curtis Burkett and wife Mindy, Bobby Bird and husband Terry,  and Joseph Burkett, nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a brother Raymond Reitz and wife Marlene, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Franklin Blaine Burkett in 2007, a son-in-law, Dane L. Crawford, two brothers; Walter Reitz, Jr. and Homer Reitz, and five sisters; Ella Dunlap, Martha Grady, Sarah Preston, Edna Sekel, and Mary Chitester.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc, 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Interment will follow at Markton Cemetery.
