Ruth Elnora Bone

December 18, 1930 — July 29, 2024

Idaho Falls

Ruth Elnora (Westover) Bone passed on Monday, July 29th at her home in assisted living in Idaho Falls at the age of 93. Ruth, loving daughter of Hiram and Mary Westover of Westover PA, wife of the late Joseph N. Bone of Mahaffey, sister of twelve (and Aunt and great Aunt to many), dedicated mother of four and grandmother of nine, lived much of her life as a military wife building relationships with both officers and enlisted families. After retirement, the family moved to Punxsutawney where Ruth quickly became the “heart” of the neighborhood, raising her own family while hosting multitudes of children on her front porch for learning, crafts and games, volunteering at the local elementary school, and providing love and assistance to elderly neighbors. She also spent many years as a member and leader of the local Groundhog Homemakers Club.

She continued past friendships built as she moved to the Baltimore area to live closer to her younger daughter, Linda, and her family. While there, she loved being closer to family and continued to make new friends in a multifamily complex and at a senior club she joined there. Recently, she moved closer to her younger son, Jeff, and his family, to live at Lincoln Court. There she found friendship and fun in group exercise, meal gatherings, and activities.

Ruth was VERY proud of her children, loved her friends and family with all her heart, and would help anybody she could. She was of course, in her later years, thankful to all who assisted her. She is survived by her children, Gregg Bone, Careema (Carol) M. Bone Sleiman, Jeffrey L. Bone, and Linda Jo Bone Jeng; youngest brother Harry Westover; sisters-in-law Evelyn Westover and Mary Westover; nine grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In her memory and in lieu of any services, the family asks that you pay forward her kindness and enthusiasm for learning and providing assistance.

Arrangements are private and have been entrusted to McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA, 15767.
