Robert D. Day, 80, of Walston, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. Bob was born May 13, 1938, in Vestaburg, PA. He was a son of the late James O. and Althea (Blankbeckley) Day. He was a veteran of the US Army and a Pennsylvania State Trooper with Troop C. He retired in 1988 after 27 years. Bob was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church, Punxsutawney Eagles, Walston Club and a member of the FOP. September 14, 1963, he married the love of his life Rose E. (Fairman) Day who survives. They were married for 55 years. In addition to his wife Rose, he is survived by two sons; Robert J. Day and wife Maria of North East and Timothy J. Day and wife Tina of Pittsburgh. Three beloved grandchildren; Isabella, Nicholas Day and Felicia Evans and husband Alex and one great grandson; Mason Evans. He was preceded in death by three brothers; James, Jack and Darrell Day along with two sisters; Billie Marie Kuhns and Eileen Booze. At Mr. Day's request, viewing is private for immediate family. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 11 am Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church with a funeral mass celebrated by Msgr. Joseph Riccardo. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Robert Day’s name to Empty Arms, a non profit and support group for families who have suffered pregnancy and infant losses.
