Richard (Dick) Young, 92 of Halifax (formerly Punxsutawney) died peacefully on Wednesday November 12th, 2025 at Holy Spirit Hospital of Camp Hill, PA.
He was born January 11th, 1933 in Punxsutawney, the son of Thomas and Violet (Beatty) Young.
He married MaryAlice Miller November 19th, 1955. They met rollerskating and continued rollerskating together into their 80’s.Together, they had four children, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a great, great, grandchild on the way! They are members of the Word of Life Chapel in Halifax, PA.
Dick graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1952. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and Sergeant. He served as a wheel vehicle mechanic in Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and also served in the Service Battery 4th How BN Battalion, 92nd Artillery in Punxsutawney.
Dick owned a construction company and worked as a carpenter constructing multiple buildings in the Punxsutawney Area. He was a master woodworker and cabinet maker. Later in his career, he moved to the Harrisburg area and worked as a Superintendent/Project Manager at the Pennsylvania Construction company into his 70’s.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, MaryAlice. He is also survived by their children; Colleen (Scott) Boeckelmann, Rich (Cindy) Young, Paula (Joe) Spack, and John (Tianda) Young, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was dearly loved by his family.
Dick was the youngest sibling of his family and is preceded in death by his parents and all other siblings (Tom, Don, Eugene, Lorraine, Harry, Charles, Gilbert, Hazel Minnick, Mabel Murray, Ruth Minnick).
Friends will be received at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767 on Saturday, November 15th from 2pm until 6pm. The funeral will be officiated by Pastor Joe Spack on Sunday, November 16th at 2pm where friends will be received from 1pm until the time of service at 2pm at Chestnut Grove Independent Church 324 Lipp Road, Punxsutawney, PA.
A celebration of life will also be held at a later date with their church family at Word of Life Chapel in Halifax, PA.
