Richard D. “Bubb” Smith, 92, of Rossiter, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital, surrounded by his family. Mr. Smith was born on November 14, 1925 in Smithville, a son of the late Dallas E. And Margaret A. (Elbel) Smith. He attended Canoe Ridge Church of God. He was a WWII Veteran earning a Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired in 1987 from Benjamin Coal Co. as Foreman & Heavy Equipment Operator. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty (States) Smith on March 15, 2017, also two brothers; Harold E. Smith, William A. Smith, an infant sister; Jane Smith and two grandchildren; Stephanie and Scott Smith. He is survived by three sons; Gary R. (Sharon) Smith of Rossiter, Robert A. (Shirl) Smith and Rickey D. (Robyn) Smith all of Punxsutawney. Two siblings; Ronald (Irene) Smith and Imogene Huff both of Glen Campbell. Five grandchildren; Michael Smith (Angel), Jennifer Eberhart (Charles), Shawn Smith (Jennifer), Heath Smith (Danielle) and Nichole McDivitt (Ben). Thirteen great grandchildren; Brandon, Ethan, Chase, Jayden Lane, Amelia, Scottie and Frances Smith, Tanner, Isabella and Jauger McDivitt and Alex, Colin and Carter Eberhart. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Earl Flick officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery will be private.
