Rhoda Jane (Sutter) Kropinak

Rhoda Jane (Sutter) Kropinak, 99 of Covode, passed away January 17, 2022 at Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney.

She was born June 24, 1922 to the late Jay Bryan and Lillian (Sutter) Sutter in Covode.

Jane lived most of her life in Covode except for the eight years she lived in Detroit. She married the late Martin L. Kropinak May 17, 1945 in Pueblo Colorado. Jane was a 1940 Graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, a graduate of Pen Mar Beauty School in Indiana, PA, and taught cosmetology in Johnstown, Somerset, Kittanning, DuBois and Indiana. Jane worked at many retail stores in Pueblo, Colorado, Detroit, Punxsutawney and DuBois. She preferred the retail business over cosmetology and retired as a group manager for Montgomery Wards Department Store. After retirement she opened Me and My Mom’s Craft House in Covode along with her daughter Kathy Setree. Jane enjoyed crafts, painting, and was an avid historian of Covode and the surrounding areas. Jane was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin L. Kropinak, daughter Kathy Setree, five sisters, Luella Barrett, Geraldine Hewitt, Edna Williard, Evelyn Marino an infant sister and a brother Karl Sutter

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The McCabe Funeral Home Inc, of Punxsutawney have been entrusted with the arrangements.
