Peter D. Altimore, 91, of Rochester Mills, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025 with his family by his side at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born May 20, 1934 to Peter D. and Irene (Pallone) Altimore in Detroit, MI
Pete served during the Korean War serving with the United States Air Force.
Pete was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Rossiter. He graduated in 1953 from SSCD High School. Pete worked as a diesel mechanic for a few places before he started working for Cummings Diesel for over 30 years before retiring in 1997. Pete enjoyed gardening, home remodeling, working on friends and family’s vehicles and even helping people that would break down. Most of all Pete loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Frances G. (Barrett) Altimore, Rochester Mills, three sons and a daughter, Peter F. Altimore, Rochester Mills, Paul M. Altimore, State College, Pamela Neal and husband Richard, Brockway, Patrick J. Altimore and wife Meghan, Issaquah, WA, grandchildren, Amber Kridler and husband David, Nichole Richards and husband Keith, Anthony Neal and wife Sara, Ally Altimore, Sam Altimore, great grandchildren, William, Kara and Elaina Kridler, Monroe and Hollis Richards, Jamison Neal, an aunt Terri Pallone, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Judi Johns.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3-7 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc, 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, a funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Resurrection 215 2nd St., Rossiter, PA 15772. with Fr. Craig Alexander celebrant.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
