Norma Elizabeth Moore, 96 of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully Friday, March 11, 2016 at Mahoning Riverside Manor.

Mrs. Moore was born November 28, 1919 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Fred S. and Aleta M. (Mottarn) Ellenberger.

April 21, 1946 she married John Edward Moore who preceded her in death on July 16, 2007.

Norma was employed in 1937 by Pennsylvania Electric Company until 1944 with time off for military service in the US Navy during WWII. She was stationed in the Main Navy Building, Washington, D.C. and honorably discahrged as Yeoman Second Class.

She enjoyed reading, cards, dominos and singing. In 2011 she traveled to Europe where she not only saw many different cities but walked to the top of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece at the age of 91.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Punxsutawney. She also served as Deacon in the Windber Presbyterian Church in Windber and sang in the choir at the Presbyterian Church in Venice, Florida during the winters.

She is survived by her daughter; Patricia Young and husband Gilbert "Butch" of Punxsutawney, a son; Thomas A. Moore and wife Judy of Phoenix, AZ., grandsons; Major Andrew Young (Ret.) and wife Wendy of Summerfield, FL., Michael Young and wife Nancy of Clermont, FL., Jonathan Craig Moore and wife Beth of Chandler, AZ., step grandsons; Michael and Patrick Cole of Denver, CO., great grandchildren; Chelsea Young of Charlotte, NC., Elizabeth and Ashley Young of FL., Ava Lynn, Brody, Kendall and Kaia Moore of AZ., sister; Frances Ralston of Lancaster, OH., brother in law; Glenn Moore of Punxsutawney and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband John, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Barbara Anne, daughter in law; Patricia Lynn Moore, brother; Charles Ellenberger  and a sister in law Mary Catherine Ellenberger.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday, March 18 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 19 at the funeral home with Rev. Brett Swanson officiating.

Private interment will be at Circle Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Memorial Fund of the Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney.
