Mary Lou McCracken

January 22, 1931 — May 28, 2025

Curwensville

It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the passing Mary Lou McCracken, who went home to be with the Lord the night of Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles, "Chuck" McCracken. Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and friend. She touched countless lives with her unwavering faith, kindness and wisdom.

Born in Clearfield, PA in 1931, Mary Lou dedicated over 40 years of her life to teaching 3rd grade at the Curwensville Elementary School. She inspired generations of students with her passion for learning and her gentle encouragement. She believed every child had potential and made it her mission to help each one discover it within. She especially loved to see students' eyes light up with excitement when they discovered the places one could escape to when reading. Her beloved books to share with her student were Charlotte's Web and My Side of The Mountain among other stories. Her classroom was a place of warmth, laughter and discovery - a reflection of her own joyful spirit. Her students remember her as a teacher who cared deeply, listened patiently and encouraged them to reach for their dreams.

Mary Lou was a proud and loving mother to her five children: Charles, Vancouver, WA, Doug, Dubois, PA, Gina Rodriguez, Bryan, TX, Lou Ann, Curwensville, PA and Tom, Henderson, MN. Her legacy continues through her 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Family gatherings were filled with the aroma of her delicious home-cooked meals and the hand decorated birthday cakes, along with the sound of laughter and the stories we all loved to share.

A woman of deep faith, Mary Lou loved Jesus with all her heart and lived her life as a testament to His love. She found peace in quiet moments with a cup of hot tea, delight in playing the piano and organ, singing, watching and caring for her cats and dogs and fulfillment in serving others. Mary Lou's legacy of love, kindness and faith will live on in the hearts of all who know her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 4th at Faith Bible Church in Lumber City. Visitation is from 11:00-12:30 with a funeral service immediately following. A graveside service will follow at the Lumber City Cemetery across from the church. All are invited to a luncheon in the fellowship hall in the basement of Faith Bible Church after the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Chuck and Mary Lou McCracken Memorial Picnic Shelter at Faith Bible Church.

Well done, good and faithful servant. (Matthew 25: 23)

Rest in peace Mary Lou.
