Jay Byers,78 of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Jay was born February 9,1939 in Mahaffey, a son of the late Perry W. and Belle L. (Goss) Byers. He is survived by his brothers; Joseph Byers of Quilene, WA., Jack Byers of Carthage, TN., Jerry Byers of LaJose , Jeffry Byers of Mahaffey, Jesse Byers of Cololrado and sisters; Judy Stodart of St. College, Jean Margolis of Butler, two nieces and two nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; James Byers. Friends will be received from 3-5 pm Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Waldron Funeral Home in Mahaffey where a funeral service will be held at 5 pm with Pastor James Hurd officiating.
