Francis P. “Ruffles” Ruffley, 76, of Mahaffey, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
He was born February 1, 1949, to Francis P. and Margaret O’Neill Ruffley Mireles in Altoona.
Ruffles was a graduate of Penn Cambria High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving over 20 years with the United States Army before his retirement. Ruffles then went to work as a coal miner and a truck driver. He most recently served as the Code Enforcement Officer for Mahaffey Boro. He was a jack of all trades and always had a project. Ruffles was a member of the Mahaffey Volunteer Fire Department, Mahaffey Ambulance and Mahaffey VFW.
He is survived by four children, Matthew Ruffley, Chambersburg, Lisa Clever, Chambersburg, Gretta Mitory (Joe), Cherry Tree, and David Fuller, Marion Center, grandchildren, Chase, Caden, Emma, Kayla Ruffley and Kayla Walker (Christopher), his siblings, Mary Kay Klisiewicz, Robert Ruffley (Barb), Dan Ruffley (Theresa), Betty Shilling, Deb Dipko (Larry), a sister-in-law Mary Ruffley, numerous nieces and nephews, and his special friends, Pat Marshall and Gary Brink as well as his cat, Miss Kitty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances Ruffley, July 18, 2023, and his brother Thomas Ruffley.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street Mahaffey, PA 15757. Military Honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mahaffey VFW, 127 East Main Street, Mahaffey, PA 15757.
