Floyd E. Hurd, 83, of La Jose, passed away on Friday, June 6,2025 at his home.
Floyd was born August 14, 1941 to Cecil F. and Anna (Erickson) in La Jose.
Floyd was a member of the La Jose Baptist Church. He graduated from Purchase Line High School in 1958. He enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served six years. Floyd worked as a supervisor on the machine floor for General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 1995. He returned back to his homestead farm where he enjoyed raising cattle and farming. He loved to go fishing and hunting and sharing what he had with others. His goal every morning was to complete the crossword puzzle in the paper while drinking his coffee and smoking cigarettes. He was a perfectionist at whatever task he worked on. Most of all, Floyd loved his family, especially his brothers and sisters. His greatest joy was when the entire family gathered at the farm to spend time together and he was loved by all.
Floyd is survived by two brothers, Pastor James R. Hurd and wife Sally of Mahaffey and Earl E. Hurd and wife Kathy of Buffalo, NY as well as two sisters, Ruth Bell and husband Al, of La Jose and Sharon Irvine of Irvona, a sister-in-law, Connie Hurd of Cherry Tree and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Hurd and Russell Hurd, and four sisters, Marie Rishel, Grace Dropps, Irene Brothers, and Mildred Solley.
The family of Floyd wishes to thank their friends, neighbors, and the dedicated team at 365 Hospice for their visits and assistance during his life's journey. A special thanks to Dave for being his "gopher". Furthermore, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Floyd's brother, Pastor James R. Hurd and wife Sally; nephew Jamie Hurd and wife Shelly; nephew Jake Hurd and wife Tiffany; his nephew Larry and partner Stacey; and niece Carla and her husband Bill for their unwavering kindness and support throughout Floyd's illness.
