Evelyn D. Chambers, 95, died on June 16, 2025 at the Mahoning Riverside Manor in Punxsutawney.
She was born on August 5, 1929 in Oliveburg, the daughter of the late Norman M. and Fern Mitchell Dinger.
She attended a one room school in Oliveburg until she entered the Punxsutawney High School from which she graduated. She then worked at Swartz’s Men’s Store until her marriage to the late Robert W. Chambers, Jr. on February 12, 1951. Following their marriage and while they were raising their family, she did the bookkeeping for Chambers Dairy. Upon its sale in 1970, she worked at the Park Avenue Medical Clinic and then Stockdale Mine Supply until her retirement. She was a member of the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Bob and Evie loved to travel, whether it be with friends, family or just the two of them. Their destinations were, among other places, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Florida, Arizona, Hilton Head Island, and various beaches and cruises. Evie was an avid golfer, loved to play bridge and treasured her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Judge Douglas R. Chambers and wife Patricia of Punxsutawney, and Gregory A. Chambers and wife Dr. Deborah Chambers of Belton, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Dr. Michael Chambers and wife Krista of Lancaster, Dr. Allison Palumbo and husband Chet of Greenville, South Carolina, Melissa Obidowski and husband Todd of Pittsburgh, and Alissa Bridges, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; nine great-grandchildren, Evelyn Chambers, Briana Palumbo, Jenna Obidowski, Max Bridges, Brendan Palumbo, Benjamin Chambers, William Bridges, Kevin Palumbo and Matthew Obidowski.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eleven siblings, Geneva Hoffman, Darl Dinger, Paul Dinger, Mary London, Annabelle Caylor, Clayton Dinger, Billy Dinger, Betty Caylor, Ruby Burkett, Norman Dinger, Jr., and Shirley Shaw.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
