Emory Phillip Monoskey, 85 of Rossiter, passed away on Thursday August 3, 2023 at his home.
He was born November 3, 1937 to George and Margaret (Organ) Monoskey in Punxsutawney.
Phil was employed by Rossiter Shoe Factory, Colt Firearms, Pratt&Whitney, served as Chief of police in Rossiter and for Canoe Township until 1991. He then became a security guard at the Punxsutawney IUP Campus, and worked at Penn Arms until his retirement. Phil was the owner of Phil’s Gun shop, where he was a gunsmith and a locksmith. Earlier in his life he was a Boy Scout Leader, a former member of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Pistol and Rifle Club and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Ramona (Belcher) Monoskey, A daughter Tina Marie Powell, a step-son Dana Matthew Mosca, NC, two sisters Joanne Hyromak and Mary Jane Burkett, both of Florida, a half brother Jack Altman, Rossiter, two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Pamela K. Monoskey.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA with Pastor Robin Smith officiating.
