Douglas James Stello, of Punxsutawney, died on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Doug was born on August 3, 1955, a son of the late James and Rose Marie (Villella) Stello. He graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1973, and attended Chamberlain Junior College, in Boston.
Doug was a free spirit and an adventurer, and he traveled across the country, owning businesses along the way, from a coffee shop in Mesa, Arizona to an antique shop in Eugene, Oregon, to a beach shop on the island of Hawaii. Antiques were Doug’s passion. When he returned home, he continued collecting and selling antiques at his shop “It’s All Stuff”, in Walston, for many years. Doug was friendly and kind to everyone he met, and he loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Shorty. He was fondly referred to by his mom, Rosie, as her “hippie” child, as they shared a special bond, because of their unique and fun-loving spirit! Doug will be sadly missed by his family, and his many friends.
Doug is survived by his sister, Jamie C. Stello (James Organ), his brother, Nickki L. Stello (Lauri Leasure), and his nephew, Antonio J. Stello (Olivia Nola). He is also survived by his uncle, Anthony Villella (Esther), as well as two aunts, Jennie Stello and Lois Stello, and many cousins.
There will be no public visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, in Punxsutawney, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo Celebrant.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Doug’s memory, to a charity of the donor’s choice.
McCabe Funeral Home, Inc. of Punxsutawney, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
