Dorothy L. Elbel

Dorothy L. Elbel, 88 of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019, at AM/PM Personal Care Home. Dorothy was born October 9, 1930, in Punxsutawney, to the late Homer and Freda (Cornman) Weaver. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Elbel. Dorothy was the Co-Owner of Elbel Produce Farm for many years before retirement. She was a faithful member of the Valier United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years and also belonged to the United Methodist Women's Group. She later transferred her membership to the Grace United Methodist Church after moving closer to town. She is survived by one son; Thomas M. Elbel and wife Connie. of Punxsutawney and one daughter; Joyce A. Jasso of Punxsutawney. One brother; Joseph Weaver of Blairsville, Six grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters; Marjorie Meckley and Diane M. Williams. She was also preceded by two brothers; Homer Weaver, Jr. and William Weaver. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm June 28, 2019, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Phillips officiating. Interment at Valier Cemetery is private.
