Dorlies Burroughs, 91, of Punxsutawney passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Mahoning Riverside Manor.
She was born August 3, 1931 to Rudolph and Wilhelmina Klever in Solingen, Germany.
She married Edward Burroughs on September 13, 1952 in Connecticut. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage together until his passing in 1994.
She had a long career with Raytheon Corporation in Connecticut and later in New Hampshire spanning over 20 years. She moved to Punxsutawney in 1978 to be close to her family and worked for Rockville, then later Equimeter and Invensys. After her retirement she worked for her son-in-law, Dr. Cherian, in his office and was lovingly referred to as “Mrs. B.” by the patients. She enjoyed working until she was 88 years old when she retired again in 2020.
She enjoyed shopping for deals at the mall, baking zucchini bread, taking cruises to faraway places and hitting the slot machines, but most of all. she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Cherian and husband Dr. George Cherian of Punxsutawney, two granddaughters; Michelle Cherian and husband Andres Sandell, New York and Jessica Cherian, Atlanta, two grandsons; Dr. Michael Cherian and wife Brooke Doney-Cherian, Punxsutawney and Dr. Jeffery Cherian and Heather Chapman-Cherian, Lititz, three great grandchildren; Alexander George Cherian, Samantha Diane Cherian, and Letti Dorlies Cherian.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends will be received on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 4-7 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
