Cecilia Donna Arlene (Burd) Neal, 87, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2026 at Aspen Health and Rehabilitation (Mulberry Square) in Punxsutawney.
She was born April 21, 1939, to Elmer and Muriel (Casner) Burd in Brenizer, Westmorland County, Pennsylvania.
She was a member of the Punxsutawney Alliance Church and spent countless hours volunteering for church activities as well as for CEF. She enjoyed spending time with her family, serving and helping others, church activities, baking her loved-ones' favorite treats, gardening and watching baseball and football–her favorite teams being the Steelers, the Chucks, and whatever team a grandchild was on.
Donna will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Jesus, love for her family, coffee and dessert, her calls on birthdays and just to check in because “oh I haven’t talked to them in a bit”, as well as her kindness and love of helping.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter; John Douglas Neal and wife Connie, Punxsutawney, Alex Mitchell Neal and wife Jane, Valier, and Cindy Gemmell and husband Rob, Punxsutawney, ten grandchildren; David Neal (Ashley), Steven Neal (Shainah), James Neal (Kristen King), Sara Shiock (Jake), Joshua Neal (Lizzy), Lance Neal, Rockford Gemmell, Alexander Neal (Rachel), Abbygayle Gemmell Cressley (Joel), and Gavin Neal, twelve great-grandchildren; Dalton Sears, Dakota Sears, Natalie Neal, Zoan Neal, Payton Neal, Trent Shiock, Layla Neal, Lainey Neal, Hallieann Neal, Travis Shiock, Levi Neal, and Makenzie Neal, two sisters; Margaret DeFoor (Gene) and Carole Brosius, two sisters-in-law; Alene Burd and Dorothy Washburn, numerous nieces and nephews and her grand-dogs that she loved, including her special Chloie.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Clair, she was preceded in death by her sister Beulah Simpson and Bill, brother Robert, sister-in-law Miriam Neal Bish and Bill, brother-in-law Bill Neal and Arlene, and brother-in-law Paul Daugherty.
Interment will take place at North Point Cemetery.
Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Punxsutawney Alliance Church, 1307 South Main Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Additional visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 11am until the time of funeral service at 12pm with Pastor Don Jones officiating.
