Donald J. Tyger, 68, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born August 28, 1957, to Donald W. and Anna E. (Quashnock) Tyger in Punxsutawney.

Don was a 1975 graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School. He then graduated from Penn State with a degree in Mining Engineering. Don worked at Thermal Guard for 25 years, worked maintenance at Saint Cosmas and Damian Church, ran his own landscaping business and worked part-time at Community Action. He was an avid Penn State fan and attended football games, hockey and wrestling events. Don enjoyed hunting, gardening, canning and cooking and his beloved cats - which he treated like his children.

He is survived by a brother Henry Nicolo, and wife Andrea, Homer City, a sister Barbara A. Bowser, and husband, Russel, Punxsutawney, three nephews: Brayden D. Bowser, (Payten Adams), Joe Nicolo, and Michael Nicolo, a great niece and a great nephew Greyson and Jade Bowser, and his beloved cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received on Friday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A time of sharing of memories will be at 6:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
