Debra S. Mottern

Deborah S. Mottern, 73, of Punxsutawney, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 18, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 28, 1952, to Ronald and Florence (Rotolo) Gotwald, in Punxsutawney.

Deborah was a 1970 graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School. She then went on to attend IUP. She attended church her entire life at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. Debra worked 20 years as an administrative assistant in the banking industry. She enjoyed cooking and cookbooks and wrote many recipes for the cookbooks at her church.

She was a loving mother that spread her kindness and love to all those around her. She was very giving, caring, and sharing to all of those she loved.

She is survived by three daughters; Marcey Bish (Blaine), Teresa D. Atwell (Tim), and Alicia Hurd (Rob), four grandchildren; Hunter Atwell, Ryan Bish, Alyssa Bish, and Amber Hurd, two brothers, Ronald E. Gotwald (Pamela Depp) and Richard A. Gotwald (Doreen), two sisters, Pamela L. Whitsell (Douglas) and LuAnn Rotolo and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Randon R. Mottern on December 16, 2024 with whom she shared 44 years of marriage in the home they built together.

At Debra’s request, visitation and services are private. Pastor Michelle Huey will officiate.

Interment will take place at Barton Chapel Cemetery.
