David Lee Stonbraker, 81, of Timblin entered into the kingdom of heaven on December 18, 2023 at the Brookville Hospital.

He was born December 24, 1941 to the late Paul M. and Florence (Blose) Stonbraker in Greensburg. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1959.  After high school, Dave joined The United States Marine Corp as a rifleman and also served as a member of the Protestant Chapel Choir at The United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.  He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC, completing his enlistment in 1963.

He married the love of his life, Janet M. Daugherty on June 15, 1963.  Together they raised four sons first settling in Wood Dale, IL before returning to Pennsylvania.  Dave served the Lord for more than 30 years as a Pastor and was also employed as a mine inspector for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, retiring in 2007.

Raised in a Christian home, Dave pursued his degree in Theology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Dave established New Life Fellowship in Timblin, PA devoting his life to leading others to our savior Jesus Christ.  Dave was a talented vocalist providing special music for church services, weddings, and funerals.  Some of his favorites were We Will Ride (Lindell Cooley), As the Deer (Martin Nystrum) and more humorously, The Devil’s in the Phone Booth (Walt Mills). He served as pastor until April 2023 when he was no longer able.

Dave enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports, playing board games and working crossword puzzles.  He proudly followed his grandchildren’s sports, military and academic achievements.  After retirement, Dave loved to travel and sightsee with his wife, Janet. Some of his favorite locations were Virginia Beach and Cape Cod.  Dave looked forward to family dinners in their home, especially his traditional “all you can eat crab” on his Christmas Eve birthday.

Dave is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet M. Stonbraker, Timblin, four sons, Mark L. (Tracy), Harrisburg, Christopher L. (Tammy), Indiana, Shawn D. (Jonna), Punxsutawney, Nathan P. (Jamie), Punxsutawney, grandchildren, Andrew, Amber, Adam, Shane, Madison, JD and Ashton, great granddaughter, Nora, brother, Michael Stonbraker (Jane), Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews. Dave’s legacy of faith will carry on forever giving us the hope and anticipation of knowing that goodbye in death is only temporary— because He lives! 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
