Charles R. Hurd, 83 of Bells Landing, went home to the Lord Thursday, September 1, 2016 with his loving wife by his side.

Chuck was born May 26, 1933 in LaJose, a son of the late Doyle and Virginia (Kauffman) Hurd.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Catherine (Johnson) Hurd of Bells Landing. They were married January 25, 1958.

He was a veteran of the US Army.

He was a member of the LaJose Baptist Church and Bells Landing Baptist Church.

Chuck worked 31 years for Clearfield Cheese and after its closing he worked for DuPont/Berg before retiring. He also worked over 15 years for the Curwensville Food Pantry and will be deeply missed by his coworkers. He had a great love for woodcutting, the outdoors and spending time with his wife and family on the farm.

In addition to his wife Catherine, he is survived by one brother; Thomas L. Hurd and wife Beulah of Clearfield, one sister; Gloria Meckly of Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.

He is preceded in death by three sisters; Elizabeth Barrett, Hazel Wood and Alice Patchin.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday, September 4 at the Waldron Funeral Home in Mahaffey.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, September 5 at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Dimmick officiating.

Interment will follow at LaJose Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Hurds name to Hahne Cancer Center or to the charity of the donors choice.
