Bertha Harrold, 83 of Sweet Valley, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Celtic Hospital Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre.
Mrs. Harrold was born June 9, 1932 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Beatty) Shaffer.
Bertha is survived by her loving husband LeRoy of Sweet Valley.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Punxsutawney. She worked in nursing and health care for many years but enjoyed being a homemaker most of all. She adored her grandchildren and loved her time with them.
In addition to her husband LeRoy, she is survived by two sons; Ray Zajaczkowski and wife Jeannine of N. Bend, WA., Harry F. Harrold of Punxsutawney, three daughters; Susan Maille, June Mohney and husband Rodney all of Sweet Valley, Christina Rose Harrold of Tacoma, WA., two brothers; Frank Shaffer and wife Marion of Pensacola, FL., Joseph Shaffer and wife Patricia of Arkansas, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother; George Shaffer, four sisters; Mazie Weaver, Frances Rowe, Dorothy Swalwell and Ethel Baranick.
A receiving of friends will be held Tuesday, February 16, at the Frist Assembly of God from noon until 2 pm where a service will be held at 2 pm with Rev. Lloyd Getch officiating. Interment is private for family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
