Andrew R “Butch” Meterko, 89, of Delancey passed away on July 10, 2026 as the result of an auto accident.

Born May 11, 1937, he was the son of the late John “Sim” and Susan (Pluchinsky) Meterko.

On February 22, 1961 he married Rose Mary (Strano) Meterko, who survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Butch was a hard worker. He served as Young Township Supervisor and spent many years as a coal miner. He was a dedicated member of Saints Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, spending much of his time mowing the church cemetery, maintaining the church fellowship hall, and volunteering at church pierogi sales and festivals. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball and loved the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers. Butch was proud to have played in the 1950 Little League World Series and enjoyed attending games over the years.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by five children: Diane (Tom) Hudock, Denise (David) McCracken, Dona (Ron) Houk, Robert (Kristen) Meterko, and Debbie (Shawn) Wingard. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Ashley (Pete) Mohney, Carrie (Kevin) Toven, Erica (Kelly) Boyles, Tyler (Megan Long) Wingard, David (Amber) McCracken, Karlee (Daran) Bingaman, Sarah (Keanan) Kopas, and Ian Meterko, eleven great grandchildren: Evan Mohney, Hannah Mohney, Ciara Toven, Olivia Toven, Reagan Houk, Brynlee Boyles, Tate Wingard, Naomi McCracken, Joanna McCracken, Henslee Bingaman and Harlow Bingaman.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by two brothers, John “Simon” Meterko and Richard “Moe” Meterko, and a special nephew, Leo Meterko.

Friends will be received from 3pm – 7pm on Sunday at McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Divine Liturgy will be held at 11am on Monday at St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 714 Sutton St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
