Aaron James Skerkavich, 41, of Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 27, 2025.

He was born March 27, 1984 to David P. and Anna Marie (McCullough) Skerkavich in Punxsutawney.

Aaron was a 2002 graduate of DuBois Central Christian High School. He then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor’s and MBA degrees. Aaron enlisted in the United States Army during his college education. He served eight years in the military serving two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan. While serving he achieved the rank of Captain. Aaron was currently employed as a Corrections Officer for the past four years at SCI Pine Grove in Indiana. Aaron was an avid hockey fan and player. He taught his brother to be one of the best goalies in his league. Along with hockey, Aaron was passionate about fishing. He loved going to fishing camp and trying to out-fish everyone at camp. Aaron always had an infectious and engaging personality that would light up the room always making sure he would talk to everyone he was around.

He is survived by his parents, David and Anna Marie Skerkavich, and a brother Tyler D. Skerkavich, all of Charleston, SC, his fiancée Beth Boyer, Indiana, aunts and uncles; Tim McCullough (Janine), Irene McCollough, Linda Mumau (Mick), Mary Kay London (Dave), Dede Skerkavich, Dennis Skerkavich, his precious kitties Drago and Spooky and numerous cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James and Rosalie McCullough and his paternal grandparents, Ann and Paul Skerkavich.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3-7 PM and on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767, with Pastor Chris Brooks officiating. The SCI Pine Grove and Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guards will provide honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, 1001 Connecticut Ave., NW Ste, 840, Washington DC 20036 or, Four Footed Friends, 220 Beck Road, Indiana, PA 15701.
